The Radio Museum of Duisburg
Every forecast said rain was inevitable therefore inside activities were warranted.
I did not want to spend a lot of money on Seaworld passes either.
SO...let's do something FREE and this museum fit the bill.
I prepared myself for a day of complete boredom when I found this indoor activity.
No kidding. I knew Dale would love it, but I was really going to grin and bear it
because it was not another day of sitting about the house.
Boy, was I wrong!
We were the first and really the only customers of the day.
The gentleman, Wilhelm, who runs the museum gave us a personalized tour of the entire museum.
He showed us which radios were still operable and what they did.
He turned them on and explained what the people of the time period
would listen to and why it was a radio marvel for that time.
It was super cool!
There were over 300 radios from 1923 and upwards.
Also included in the collection was a specially made radio for the Volkswagen Company
for Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist Regime.
Other radios showed a map of where the station was being picked up from around the world.
There were cool reel to reels and everyday object radios. Flashbacks to boom boxes as well!
I would definitely recommend going here to all my friends.
Unbelievable stuff folks!
