Castle Thurant
A spectacular cultural heritage site of central Europe.
Built by the Count Palatine Heinrich (Henry) of the House of Guelph between 1198 and 1206.
Once split into two by a partition wall, each with a keep tower.
In the 19th century Thurant disintegrated, becoming a ruin.
In 1911, it was acquired by the Privy Councilor, Dr. Robert Allmers, who rebuilt it.
To this day it is owned by the Allmers and Wulf families.
You can also rent out the holiday apartment/Guest house within the courtyard!
